3 Times a Charm?

For the third consecutive season, the CNMSBL 25+ Devils made it to the Championship Series against the rival White Sox.  The White Sox were seeking a third consecutive title, while the Devils had retribution on their mind in the best of 5 series.

New field manager John Ham had his sights on the trophy, starting ace Tony LePage in the first game of the series.  The Devils had a lead going into the bottom of the 7th inning, when the White Sox pulled a rabbit out of their hat and pulled out a come from behind victory.

Game 2 went to the White Sox, as well, with the Devils playing one of the worst defensive games in history.  Now down two games, the pressure was on, but LePage was coming back for game 3.

The third game was a pitchers duel between LePage and Kevin Curtin, but the Devils fought hard and took the victory.  LePage, hit by a line drive by the second batter of the game, pitched the complete game victory, later learning that he was pitching with a fracture in his throwing arm.  That wouldn’t stop him, as he came back in game 4.

The Devils came out strong in game 4 behind the right arm of super-vet Steve Borg  but fell short, allowing the White Sox to win their 3rd straight CNMSBL 25+ Division Championship.  Great season by the Devils, however, and a great first year on the bench by John Ham.  The Devils will look to break the bridesmaid trend in 2015 and finally win their first title since 2008.
